ABOUT THE PIECE:

I like to explore my surroundings on foot and with a camera. Whether I'm walking through my suburban neighborhood or a major city I take pictures as a means of discovery and immersion. I do not plan or pre-visualize what I want to photograph. I simply walk, look attentively, and hope to be consumed by the conditions of a moment. However, I realize that I cannot ever fully document my experiences. What I am able to capture on film represents traces of such instances, suggestions or evocations, that embody my reaction to a particular scene just as much as the scene itself. My camera of choice for such pursuits is the Holga. Known for its unpredictable blurring, light leaks, vignetting, and ability to produce double exposures it is the perfect compliment to my uncertain explorations. The resulting images are vignettes. They are mere impressions; illusory and abstract, fantastic and confessional, memorable and imperfect fragments.
